Our platform rules
Simple rules.
A safer learning space.
Everyone using Open Potential agrees to these everyday rules.
For every user
Use your own account. Keep sign-in details private. Be respectful. Do not damage the service, bypass controls, impersonate someone else or upload unlawful, harmful or stolen content.
For learners
Tell a trusted adult if something makes you uncomfortable. Do not share private details. Use chat and live-class tools only for learning. Ask before uploading a photograph that shows another person.
For parents
Keep account details accurate, supervise learning in a way suited to the child, review optional preferences and travel plans, check activity safety and tell Open Potential about account or safeguarding concerns promptly.
For teachers and staff
Work only within your granted permissions, maintain professional boundaries, use approved communication routes, record concerns accurately and access learner information only where needed for your role.
Things that are never acceptable
Bullying, grooming, sexual content involving a child, hate speech, threats, cheating services, attempts to identify or contact a learner privately, malicious software and deliberate misuse of another person’s data are prohibited.
If a rule is broken
We may remove content, stop a session, restrict features or suspend an account. Serious safety or legal concerns may be reported to a parent, safeguarding authority, police or other appropriate body.
