Safeguarding

Learning should feel safe.
Support should be visible.

Open Potential is designed around parent oversight, age-appropriate access and clear ways to raise a concern.

Parent-controlled access

Children use a learner profile within a family account. Parents choose subjects, manage learning preferences, review completed work and decide which optional services a learner may use.

Live teaching

Live sessions are scheduled for named learners and use a waiting room. Teachers and staff must use Open Potential’s approved communication routes and must not move conversations to private personal accounts. Parents should remain aware of sessions and be available where appropriate for the child’s age and needs.

Safe learning content

Lessons and resources are checked before they are made available. Parents can review work, report concerns and decide whether an activity is appropriate for their child and home environment.

Reporting a concern

Do not use lesson notes or general feedback for an urgent safeguarding concern. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. To report a concern about Open Potential, contact the Open Potential safeguarding lead through our contact page.

Our response

Safeguarding concerns are restricted to the people who need to review them, recorded carefully and escalated to the appropriate authorities or services when required.
