Terms and conditions

Your Open Potential service.
What we each agree.

These terms apply when an adult registers for, receives or purchases an Open Potential family learning service.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Eligibility and the family account

The contracting account holder must be at least 18 and responsible for the learner profiles created within the account. You must provide accurate information, protect passwords and PINs and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access.

The service

Open Potential provides parent-controlled learning tools, lessons, progress records and any package features shown at registration. Availability, subject choice, profile limits, teaching and World Explorer access depend on the package or individual access granted to the account.

Subscriptions and payment

Prices, billing periods, included access and any introductory terms are shown before purchase. Unless described as a fixed term, a paid subscription renews for the displayed billing period until cancelled. Payment processing may be provided by a separate payment provider. Statutory cancellation and consumer rights are not affected.

Parents remain responsible

Open Potential supports home learning but is not a school, examination body, medical service or substitute for a parent’s legal responsibilities. Parents decide whether an activity, resource or suggested pathway is suitable for their child and circumstances.

Learning records and assisted features

Progress indicators and suggested next steps are educational guidance, not diagnoses, predicted grades or guaranteed outcomes. Assisted features may prepare explanations or drafts, but curriculum alignment, safety checks and parent or staff review remain part of the service.

Live classes

Where live teaching is included or purchased, attendance, rescheduling and cancellation arrangements will be shown when booking. Everyone must follow the safeguarding policy, code of conduct and platform rules.

Acceptable use

You must not misuse the service, bypass access controls, share accounts outside your household, upload unlawful or harmful material, copy protected content beyond permitted family use, disrupt another user or use the platform to contact a child outside approved routes.

Availability, suspension and ending access

Maintenance and interruptions may occur. We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary for safety, security, non-payment, misuse or legal compliance. You may cancel in accordance with the process shown in your account or by contacting us.

Liability and changes

Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, Open Potential is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, independent third-party services or a parent’s decision to use an activity unsafely. We may update these terms for legal, safety or service reasons and will provide appropriate notice of material changes.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, while mandatory consumer protections applicable where you live remain available. Questions can be sent through the contact page.
